Postural distortions caused by vertebral subluxations can lead to a cascade of muscular imbalances and asymmetries throughout the body. Here's a breakdown of these distortions and their potential effects:
Common Postural Distortions
1. Head Tilt
Cause: Misalignment in the cervical spine.
Effects: Tight neck muscles on one side, weakened muscles on the opposite side.
2. Tight Neck Muscles
Cause: Compensation for head tilt or forward head posture.
Effects: Reduced range of motion, headaches, and upper back tension.
3. Shoulder drop
Cause: Uneven vertebral alignment affecting the thoracic spine.
Effects: Imbalance in shoulder and upper back muscles.
4. Tight Shoulder & Upper Back Muscles
Cause: Compensatory mechanisms for misalignment.
Effects: Pain, stiffness, and restricted arm movement.
5. Tight Lower Back Muscles
Cause: Misaligned lumbar vertebrae or pelvic tilt.
Effects: Lower back pain, reduced spinal flexibility.
6. Higher Hip (Pelvic Tilt)
Cause: Subluxations in the lumbar or sacroiliac joints.
Effects: Unequal weight distribution, hip and knee pain.
7. Tight Hamstrings
Cause: Pelvic misalignment or compensatory posture.
Effects: Limited leg flexibility and strain on the lower back.
8. Uneven Arm Length
Cause: Spinal or rib cage misalignment.
Effects: Shoulder and arm discomfort, reduced functionality.
9. Tight Calf Muscles
Cause: Compensatory adjustments for uneven leg length.
Effects: Foot pain, limited ankle mobility.
10. Unequal Leg Length (Short Leg)
Cause: Pelvic misalignment or lumbar subluxation.
Effects: Altered gait, hip and knee joint stress.
Management Strategies
Chiropractic Adjustments: Correct subluxations to restore spinal alignment.
Postural Exercises: Strengthen weak muscles and stretch tight ones.
Massage Therapy: Relieve muscle tension and improve circulation.
Physical Therapy: Focus on gait training and functional movement patterns.
Making new habits: start with new habits that are good and correct
